HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Park Ridge Historical Society has been a leader in preserving the history and communicating the heritage of Park Ridge for the past 50 years; and

WHEREAS, The Park Ridge Historical Society formed in 1971 when its leaders began maintaining a period home to transport visitors to the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in Park Ridge; and

WHEREAS, The Park Ridge Historical Society has moved to various locations over the years, from the Gillick House to 41 South Prairie to The Solomon Cottage, which became the Park Ridge History Center; the slogan "History on the Move" was adopted in 2009; and

WHEREAS, The Park Ridge Historical Society provides fascinating exhibits for anyone interested in learning about local history, including Wartime Memories – life as a teen during World War II, an oral history project, and Trailblazing Women of Park Ridge, an exhibit that highlights the work of four women with connections to Park Ridge; and

WHEREAS, The Park Ridge Historical Society offers neighborhood tours by foot, bike, or car, which allows residents and visitors the opportunity to engage with the history of their surroundings while moving through the Park Ridge community; and

WHEREAS, The Park Ridge Historical Society collects information on notable residents and historical sites, making history exciting and appealing through photos and storytelling; and

WHEREAS, The Park Ridge Historical Society has preserved history for half a century, keeping the memories that make up the character of the Park Ridge community alive; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Park Ridge Historical Society on its 50th anniversary, and we wish it many years of continued success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies be presented to President Cheryl Williams, Vice President Brian Lazzaro, Secretary Joan Mattingly, Treasurer Missy Gentile, and the trustees of the Park Ridge Historical Society to congratulate them on this remarkable accomplishment.
