SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

305 ILCS 5/5-5.28 new

Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Requires the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to establish procedures to permit persons licensed as genetic counselors in accordance with the Genetic Counselor Licensing Act to enroll as providers under the medical assistance program and bill the Department directly for genetic counseling services provided to medical assistance recipients.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning public aid.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by adding Section 5-5.28 as follows:

(305 ILCS 5/5-5.28 new)

Sec. 5-5.28. Genetic counseling services. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Code, the Department shall establish procedures to permit persons licensed as genetic counselors in accordance with the Genetic Counselor Licensing Act to enroll as providers under the medical assistance program and bill the Department directly for genetic counseling services provided to medical assistance recipients.
