SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gene Lee Cunningham of Bloomington, who
4passed away on November 27, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gene Cunningham was born in Bloomington to Harry
6and Irene Cunningham on December 6, 1937; he served in the U.S.
7Navy for over four years; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Gene Cunningham loved kids and built Skate N Place
9in Bloomington in 1973; the 42 years he spent owning and
10operating Skate N Place with his wife were some of the happiest
11times of his life; he also operated Cunningham Enterprises and
12Illinois Pinball, which shipped pinball parts worldwide, and
13built the legendary Big Bang Bar pinball machine; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Gene Cunningham was preceded in death by his
15parents; his daughter, Tami Lynn Pate; and his grandson,
16Michael Paul Miller; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Gene Cunningham is survived by his wife of 46
18years, Georgianna Cunningham; his children, Kimberli and Dan
19Carter, Wayne David Simmons, Rich Tewell, Jeana (Russell)
20Ballinger, Kelli (Chris) Brown, J.R. Cunningham, and Gina Lynn
21Cunningham; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren;

2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Gene Lee Cunningham and extend our sincere condolences to his
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Gene Cunningham as an expression of
9our deepest sympathy.
