SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Theresa M. Gorman of Waukegan, who passed away on November 2, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Theresa Gorman was born to Edward and Rosa (Puentes) Perez on December 27, 1932; she married John D. Gorman on December 22, 1959; and

WHEREAS, Theresa Gorman worked for her father, who owned and operated the 400 Cafe Restaurant in Waukegan, for 22 years; later in life, she worked as the lunch room supervisor at Oakdale Elementary School; she worked at Victory Memorial Hospital (Vista East) for 29 years until her retirement; she also worked for seven years at Catholic Charities/Samaritan House, a transitional housing for homeless women and children; and

WHEREAS, Theresa Gorman's hobbies included cross-stitching, crocheting, crewel embroidery, and creating many original pieces using old jewelry and beads; she entered many afghans and embroidery projects in Friedens U.C.C. Women's Guild quilt and art show competitions, many of which took first place; many of her afghans were auctioned to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri; she was a member of North Prairie United Methodist Church in Winthrop Harbor; and

WHEREAS, Theresa Gorman was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; her brothers, Joseph, Angelo, and Richard Perez; her sisters, Linda Garcia, Julia Prickett, Helen Murillo, Rose Jones, and Emily Dupree; her brothers-in-law, Melvin Prickett, Joe Murillo, John Karner, and Bill Jones; and her son-in-law, Craig Anderson; and

WHEREAS, Theresa Gorman is survived by her daughters, Diana (George) Bauer, Christina Perez-Anderson, and Susan Villarreal; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Jennie Adams, Dolores Karner, and Edward (Audrey) Perez; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Perez; her brother-in-law, Don Dupree; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Theresa M. Gorman and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Theresa Gorman as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
