SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Theresa M. Gorman of Waukegan, who passed
4away on November 2, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Theresa Gorman was born to Edward and Rosa
6(Puentes) Perez on December 27, 1932; she married John D.
7Gorman on December 22, 1959; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Theresa Gorman worked for her father, who owned
9and operated the 400 Cafe Restaurant in Waukegan, for 22 years;
10later in life, she worked as the lunch room supervisor at
11Oakdale Elementary School; she worked at Victory Memorial
12Hospital (Vista East) for 29 years until her retirement; she
13also worked for seven years at Catholic Charities/Samaritan
14House, a transitional housing for homeless women and children;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Theresa Gorman's hobbies included
17cross-stitching, crocheting, crewel embroidery, and creating
18many original pieces using old jewelry and beads; she entered
19many afghans and embroidery projects in Friedens U.C.C. Women's
20Guild quilt and art show competitions, many of which took first
21place; many of her afghans were auctioned to benefit St. Jude
22Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri; she was a member of

1North Prairie United Methodist Church in Winthrop Harbor; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Theresa Gorman was preceded in death by her
3husband, John; her parents; her brothers, Joseph, Angelo, and
4Richard Perez; her sisters, Linda Garcia, Julia Prickett, Helen
5Murillo, Rose Jones, and Emily Dupree; her brothers-in-law,
6Melvin Prickett, Joe Murillo, John Karner, and Bill Jones; and
7her son-in-law, Craig Anderson; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Theresa Gorman is survived by her daughters, Diana
9(George) Bauer, Christina Perez-Anderson, and Susan
10Villarreal; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her
11siblings, Jennie Adams, Dolores Karner, and Edward (Audrey)
12Perez; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Perez; her brother-in-law,
13Don Dupree; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Theresa M. Gorman and extend our sincere condolences to her
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Theresa Gorman as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
