SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert L. "Pete" Petersen of Moline, who passed away on August 7, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Pete Petersen was born in Rock Island to Fred F. and Cora L. (DeLoach) Petersen on July 6, 1939; he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps; he married Denise A. Grems in Rock Island on October 2, 1960; and

WHEREAS, Pete Petersen worked as a heavy equipment operator with Hernstrom Excavating through Union Local 150; and

WHEREAS, Pete Petersen enjoyed tinkering in his garage, working on his Model A, spending time on his swing, taking rides on his lawn mower, traveling to Florida, and, most of all, spending time with his family and grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Pete Petersen was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Fred; and his granddaughter, Jennifer; and

WHEREAS, Pete Petersen is survived by his wife of 58 years, Denise; his children, Robert (Debbie) Petersen Jr., Tim Petersen, Cindy (Tracy) Jensen, Tom Petersen, and Amy Petersen; his grandchildren, Tyler, Josh, Kinzy, Dustin, Amanda, Jonathan, and Katie; his great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Nancy (Vern) Cook and Karen York; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert L. "Pete" Petersen and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Pete Petersen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
