SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Leon Mudd of Moline, who passed away on
4August 5, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Leon Mudd was born in Millwood, Missouri to Olin
6and Mary (Miller) Mudd on April 27, 1928; he married Elaine
7Marie Gustafson at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline on
8April 3, 1951 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean
9War; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Leon Mudd started a career in sheet metal work at
11Crawford Heating and Cooling in Rock Island; he later worked as
12a pipefitter at John Deere Davenport Works, retiring in May
131992; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Leon Mudd was a jack-of-all-trades, and he could
15build just about anything and everything; he enjoyed fishing
16and meeting up with friends for coffee; he owned a restored
17Ford 8N Tractor; he loved to help others, and everyone loved
18his sense of humor; he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church
19in Moline; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Leon Mudd was preceded in death by his parents;
21his stepmother, Ruby Schuck-Mudd; his brothers, Herman, Cal,

1and Pete Mudd; and his sisters, Bernice Dwyer, Jeanette
2Johnson, Mary Agnes Wells, and Rita Ashton; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Leon Mudd is survived by his wife of 68 years,
4Elaine; his children, Brenda Ellsworth and Diane (Terry)
5Snipes; his grandchildren, Jeff (Tracee) Ellsworth, Elizabeth
6(Chet) DeSmet, Greg (Lindsay) Snipes, and Stephanie (Ben)
7Dasso; his great-grandchildren, Emily Soricelli, Evan
8Soricelli, Connor Ellsworth, Ashlyn DeSmet, and Audrey Snipes;
9his sister, Olean Rohr; his brother, Earl Schuck; and many
10nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Leon Mudd and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
14friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Leon Mudd as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
