SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Greg William Ervin of Toledo, who passed away on July 18, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Greg Ervin was born to C. Carroll and Mary (Stitt) Ervin on August 18, 1960; he began building boats, working on race cars, and erecting hog barns with his father at an early age; he started his first business at the age of 15 when he purchased a tractor and rented farm ground from a relative; he married Christie Sowers in 1978; and

WHEREAS, Greg Ervin founded Ervin Trucking in 1981 and began hauling sand and gravel to construction sites; as he sold old equipment to make room for new, he quickly recognized the demand for pre-owned inventory and created Ervin Equipment Incorporated in 1991, where he focused on selling and leasing equipment within the transportation industry; and

WHEREAS, Greg Ervin was honest, hard working, fun loving, high energy, influential, and instrumental; he was passionate about his hometown community and worked tirelessly to preserve its future; he had an even greater love for his family; and

WHEREAS, Greg Ervin was preceded in death by his father; and

WHEREAS, Greg Ervin is survived by his wife of 40 years, Christie; his daughter, Kylee (Justin Ward) Ervin; his son, Cole (Season) Ervin; his grandchildren, Paxton, Payton, Jett, Eve, and Judd; his mother; and his sister, Barb Hall; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Greg William Ervin and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Greg Ervin as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
