SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Deputy Troy P. Chisum of Canton, who was killed in the line of duty while serving the citizens of Fulton County on June 25, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Chisum was born in Phoenix, Arizona to Phil and Debra (Hebb) Chisum on August 10, 1979; he married Amanda Stoddard in Canton on April 17, 1999; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Chisum was a deputy with the Fulton County Sheriff's Office; he also worked as a paramedic with the Fulton County Emergency Management Agency and as a firefighter with Northern Tazewell County; he previously worked for the Lewistown Police Department; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Chisum was a member of the West Central Special Response Team and the ILEAS WMD/SRT team, Region 6; he enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings, going to the shooting range, playing on the alumni football team, and any activities with his wife and daughters; he was his daughters' number one fan and always inspired them to follow their dreams; he dedicated his life to the service of his community; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Chisum was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and his sister-in-law, Jessica Lasswell; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Chisum is survived by his wife, Amanda; his daughters, Kyleigh (Andy DeLost) Chisum, Abigail Chisum, and Gracie Chisum; his father, Phil Chisum; his mother and stepfather, Debra (Mike) Wheeler; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walt (Kathy) Thomas; his sister, Krysta Dilts; his stepbrother, Zach Wheeler; his stepsister, Cher (Matt) Valdez; his maternal grandparents, Lyle and Betty Hebb; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Deputy Troy P. Chisum and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Deputy Chisum as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
