SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James D. "Jim" Zimmerman M.D. of Bloomington, who passed away on December 23, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Zimmerman was born in Mason City to F. Wayne and Janice Mathers Zimmerman on March 16, 1949; he graduated from Princeton (IL) High School in 1968 and received his degree in pharmacy from Drake University in 1973; he graduated from the University of Illinois Medical School and did his residency at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City; he married Sharry Olson in Princeton on September 7, 1974; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Zimmerman moved to Bloomington in June of 1979 and opened Bloomington Pediatrics; he retired in August of 2013; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Zimmerman loved spending time with his family, golfing, fishing, and cheering on the Cubs; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Zimmerman was preceded in death by his father; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Zimmerman is survived by his wife, Sharry; his mother, Janice Zimmerman; his children, Matthew Zimmerman, Susan (Brent) Collins, and Jonathan (Sarah) Zimmerman; his grandchildren, Ethan and Annabel Collins and Everett, Gage, and Caroline Zimmerman; his brothers, Dr. Richard (Debbie) and Dr. Thomas (Barbara) Zimmerman; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James D. "Jim" Zimmerman M.D. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Zimmerman as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
