SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Daniel Bever Crane of Danville, who passed away on May 28, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Crane was born in Chicago to Dr. George W. and Cora Ellen (Miller) Crane on January 10, 1936; he graduated from South Shore High School; he received his bachelor of arts degree from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan; he later received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University; he married Judy Ann VanBrunt in Hillsboro, Indiana on June 13, 1970; and

WHEREAS, After graduation, Daniel Crane served as a captain in the United States Army during the Vietnam War; he was stationed in Southeast Asia; following his honorable discharge, he started a private dental practice in Danville and retired in 2011; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Crane was elected to the United States House of Representatives and served as a congressman for both the 19th and 22nd Districts from 1979 until 1985; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Crane was a member of the Hillsboro United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 23 of Aurora, Colorado; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Crane was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his parents; and his brothers, George Crane IV and Dr. Philip Crane; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Crane is survived by his children, Nathaniel (Tracy) Crane, Joshua (Maggie) Crane, Kimberly (Nikolaos Johnson) Crane, Elizabeth (Christopher) Gulugian, Emily (Tom) Makarewicz, and Heidi Crane; his granddaughters, Sophia Ellen and Willa Sage Makarewicz, Dylan Rose Gulugian, and Claire Louise Crane; his sister, Judith Ross; and his brother, Dr. David G. (Joanie) Crane; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dr. Daniel Bever Crane and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Daniel Crane as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
