SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard Nardini, who passed away on June 22, 2020 at the age of 85; and

WHEREAS, Richard Nardini spent most of his life in Schiller Park; he graduated from East Leyden High School in 1952; he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1957, where he served at Fort Sheridan; and

WHEREAS, Richard Nardini worked at the Chicago-Sun Times for 56 years, where he worked his way up from messenger to director of classified advertising; as director, he built relationships with small local businesses to provide reasonably-priced newspaper advertisements; he received the prestigious Marshall Field Award for his salesmanship in 1976; he retired in 2006; and

WHEREAS, Richard Nardini served as a board member of the Leyden High School District 212 for 36 years; he served 29 of those years as president; during his tenure, he worked towards securing opportunities for every student that attended the district's two high schools; he retired from the board in 2005; and

WHEREAS, Richard Nardini was a loyal volunteer at Hines Veterans Hospital for much of his life; he was an avid golfer and a respected community leader; he will be remembered for his honesty, fairness, compassion, and mentorship; and

WHEREAS, Richard Nardini is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mabel Nardini; his sons, Richard Nardini, Ronald Nardini, and Robert Nardini; his daughters, Donna Mueller and Diane Weigt; his brothers, Ronald Nardini, Eugene Nardini, and Charles "Chuck" Nardini; his six grandchildren; and his two great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard Nardini and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard Nardini as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
