SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas Lee "Tom" Slead of Moline, who passed away on November 2, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Tom Slead was born in Rock Island to Richard N. and Dorothy J. (Holdefer) Slead on November 23, 1949; he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War; he married Pamela Powell in Rock Island in 1984; and

WHEREAS, Tom Slead owned and operated Cross Country Trailer Sales in Davenport, Iowa; and

WHEREAS, Tom Slead often enjoyed a pitcher of beer and pizza at one of the Quad City-style pizza places; he was an avid golfer and a golf fan; he cheered for the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bears; and

WHEREAS, Tom Slead was preceded in death by his brother, Norman Slead; and

WHEREAS, Tom Slead is survived by his wife, Pam; his children, Eric Slead, Jason Slagel, and Jeremy Slagel; his grandchildren, Ashlyn, Sariah, and Montana; his sisters, Pat (Pete) Strupp and Monica (Larry) York; and his brother, Mike Slead; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Thomas Lee "Tom" Slead and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tom Slead as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
