SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Kenneth J. "Ken" Maier of Hillsdale, who
4passed away on November 3, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ken Maier was born in Rock Island to Ben and Alice
6(Lovett) Maier on April 17, 1934; he graduated from Rock Island
7High School in 1952; he earned a degree in accounting from
8Augustana College in 1956; he served in the 3rd Armored
9Division of the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958; he married Vicki
10Vogelsang in 1961, and they divorced after several years; he
11later married Joyce Wood in 1978, and she preceded him in death
12in 1984; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ken Maier worked in the auditing department of
14John Deere for nearly 30 years; he spent a majority of his
15career in overseas locations; he retired in 1987; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Ken Maier enjoyed all types of hunting, including
17waterfowl, deer, turkey, and big game; he showed horses and
18enjoyed trail rides; in his earlier years, he was an avid pool
19player and played in 8 ball tournaments around the area and as
20far away as Las Vegas; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Ken Maier was preceded in death by his parents;

1his wife, Joyce; and his brother, Benny Maier; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Ken Maier is survived by his sister-in-law,
3Marilyn Maier; his four stepchildren; and his special friends,
4Steve Earhart and Jillian Woeckoner; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Kenneth J. "Ken" Maier and extend our sincere condolences to
8his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Ken Maier as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
