SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of LTC Jon Charles Cook of Moline, who passed away on November 24, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Jon Cook was born to William Wesley and Barbara (Kriess) Cook in Tokyo, Japan on February 3, 1948; he graduated from Ohio State University; he married Marcia Ferris in Moline on June 12, 1971; and

WHEREAS, Jon Cook served in the U. S. Army from 1972 until his retirement in 1992; after his service, he worked with Army Community Services in Army Emergency Relief on the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 2014; and

WHEREAS, Jon Cook was an active member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Moline where he served as a church clerk, a second reader, and a Sunday school teacher; he was also a member of Doric Lodge #319, AF & AM, and the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline; and

WHEREAS, Jon Cook was a volunteer with the Quad Cities Animal Recovery Team; and

WHEREAS, Jon Cook loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Jon Cook is survived by his wife; his two children, William Cook and Nancy (Edward) Testa-Meyer; his two grandchildren, Ashley Testa and Serenity Meyer; and his step-siblings and their spouses, Roger "Tim" and Julie Richards, Howard "Doug" and Cathy Richards, and Earl "Jeff" Richards and Mary Giffin; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of LTC Jon Charles Cook and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jon Cook as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
