SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mark Alan Babcock of Moline, who passed
4away on October 31, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mark Babcock was born to Jack and Marcella
6(Hopkins) Babcock in Moline on October 24, 1948; he graduated
7from Moline High School in 1967; he married Sally Iverson in
8Moline on September 13, 1969; he served in the U.S. Army in
9Germany from 1968 to 1970; and
 
10    WHEREAS, When he was younger, Mark Babcock worked in the
11restaurant business, managing the Boars Head in Moline and then
12working as an assistant manager at The Dock in Davenport, Iowa;
13he also owned a restaurant in Sherrard called Food and Company;
14after leaving the restaurant business, he sold cars for various
15car dealerships around the Quad Cities; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mark Babcock enjoyed spending time at the family
17cabin in Decorah, Iowa; he was a skilled woodworker who enjoyed
18making a variety of different objects for family and friends;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Mark Babcock was preceded in death by his mother
21and his two brothers, Mike and Steve Babcock; and

1    WHEREAS, Mark Babcock is survived by his wife; his two
2sons, Ira Babcock and Noah (Kimberly) Babcock; and a special
3niece, Teresa Garcia; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Mark Alan Babcock and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Mark Babcock as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
