SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mark Alan Babcock of Moline, who passed away on October 31, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Mark Babcock was born to Jack and Marcella (Hopkins) Babcock in Moline on October 24, 1948; he graduated from Moline High School in 1967; he married Sally Iverson in Moline on September 13, 1969; he served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1968 to 1970; and

WHEREAS, When he was younger, Mark Babcock worked in the restaurant business, managing the Boars Head in Moline and then working as an assistant manager at The Dock in Davenport, Iowa; he also owned a restaurant in Sherrard called Food and Company; after leaving the restaurant business, he sold cars for various car dealerships around the Quad Cities; and

WHEREAS, Mark Babcock enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Decorah, Iowa; he was a skilled woodworker who enjoyed making a variety of different objects for family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Mark Babcock was preceded in death by his mother and his two brothers, Mike and Steve Babcock; and

WHEREAS, Mark Babcock is survived by his wife; his two sons, Ira Babcock and Noah (Kimberly) Babcock; and a special niece, Teresa Garcia; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mark Alan Babcock and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mark Babcock as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
