SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert Kenneth "Ken" Harvey Sr. of Wadsworth, who passed away on April 10, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Ken Harvey was born in Waukegan to Robert and Harriett Harvey on April 18, 1949; he was a lifelong resident of Lake County; he graduated from Warren Township High School in 1967; he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969 and served during the Vietnam War; he married Cindy on August 28, 1971; and

WHEREAS, Ken Harvey was hired by the Waukegan Fire Department in 1973 and served his community for over 28 years; he held several positions while there, including firefighter and paramedic, Union Local 473 President, WFD Bomb Team Commander, Lieutenant, Captain, and Deputy Chief, prior to retiring as Captain in 2002; and

WHEREAS, After retirement, Ken Harvey served as a trustee for the Village of Wadsworth; he held this position for 13 years; and

WHEREAS, Ken Harvey was a member of Gideons International; he served as troop leader for Boy Scouts Troop 1; he enjoyed spending time with and supporting his family in their activities; he was named the greatest fan of his son Rob's current band, Bella Cain; he built a front engine dragster and spent several seasons touring the World of Wheels shows; and

WHEREAS, Ken Harvey is survived by his wife of 48 and a half years, Cindy; his sons, Rob (Ashley Bunner) and Jason (Tanya); his grandchildren, Tori and Anthony Harvey; his bonus granddaughter, Aubrie Orrick; his sister, Barbara (Rick) Booker; his brother-in-law, Martin (the late Sue) Stanonik; and his several nieces, nephews, and countless friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert Kenneth "Ken" Harvey Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ken Harvey as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
