SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Dean Riggins of Coal Valley,
4who passed away on June 17, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Riggins was born to Clarence and Hazel
6(Morris) Riggins in Elmer, Missouri on September 1, 1936; he
7graduated from Aledo High School and then served for four years
8in the U.S. Air Force, spending over half of that time at
9Albrook Air Force Station in Panama; he married Donna Dunn,
10with whom he had two daughters; after his first marriage ended,
11he married Janice Louck Armstrong in Joy on July 2, 1967; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bob retired from the International Union of
13Operating Engineers Local #150; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Bob Riggins spent a lot of time in his younger
15years as a pilot, camping, and catching up on local news at the
16Maid Rite in Coal Valley; he enjoyed going to the casino and
17will be remembered for telling a good story; above all else,
18family was the most important thing to him, and he loved
19watching his children's and grandchildren's sporting events;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, Bob Riggins was preceded in death by his parents;

1his stepson, William Todd Armstrong; his son-in-law, Joe
2Williamson; his daughter-in-law, Julie Armstrong; his
3grandson, Charles Nicol; and his great-granddaughter, Araceli
4Canales-Armstrong; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Riggins is survived by his wife, Janice; his
6daughters, Rose (Jeff) Fugate, and Barbara (Robert) Nicol; his
7son, Robert K. Armstrong; his eight grandchildren; and his
8eight great-grandchildren; his siblings, Fern Farmer, Karen
9(Larry) Hartman, Jerry (Nancy) Riggins, and Dale (Sandra)
10Riggins; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Robert "Bob" Dean Riggins and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Bob Riggins as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
