SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Seferino "Don" Perez of Moline, who
4passed away on May 14, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Perez was born to Joseph and Francisca
6(Cervantes) Perez in Moline on August 6, 1931; he was a U.S.
7Army Veteran who served during the occupation of Japan, the
8occupation of Germany, and the Korean War, where he
9participated in the five main campaigns, including the Inchon
10Landing, the Liberation of Seoul, and the Battle of Chosin
11Reservoir; Don married Esther Belman in Silvis on December 28,
121957; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Don Perez retired from the former John Deere
14Planter in Moline; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Don Perez was a member of St. Mary's Church in
16Moline, the Ybarra VFW, American Legion Post 246, and the
17American GI Form; he also volunteered as a crossing guard at
18the former Erikson Grade School in Moline; and
 
19    WHEREAS, In his earlier years, Don Perez enjoyed playing
20football, watching Western movies, especially John Wayne
21movies, and listening to Mexican music; and

1    WHEREAS, Don Perez was preceded in death by his son,
2Vincent; his daughter, Lydia; and his granddaughter, Sasha
3Perez; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Don Perez is survived by his wife, Esther; his
5children, John (Jim) Perez, Julius (Andrea) Perez, Mike (Mike)
6Perez, Benita (Dan) Perez-DeLoach, and Andrew (Merry) Perez;
7his 11 grandchildren; his 11 great-grandchildren; and his
8brother, Jesse Perez; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Seferino "Don" Perez and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Don Perez as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
