SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gerald "Jerry" Braughton of Rock Island, who passed away on June 2, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Braughton was born in Taylorville to Loren Potts and Kathryn Braughton on August 29, 1945; he graduated from Western Illinois University; he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he married Emilie Roels on April 18, 1970; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Braughton was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal with Quality Control; he had previously been employed by Navistar; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Braughton was a member of Church of Peace in Rock Island and Trio Lodge No. 57; he loved spending time with his family and golfing; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Braughton was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Esther Herditsky, Della Becker, Sharon Herditsky, and Harold Braughton; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Braughton is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Emilie, and his daughters, Amy Braughton (Leigh TenPas) and Beth Braughton (Mike Wigglesworth); therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gerald "Jerry" Braughton and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jerry Braughton as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
