SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles Larry Wood of Carterville, who passed away on January 27, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Charles Wood was born in Carbondale to John and Naomi (Hicks) Wood on January 30, 1941; his mother remarried John G. Menteer after his father's passing, and Menteer helped raise Charles; he married Mary Ann Easter on May 2, 1981; he served his country in the U.S. Navy; and

WHEREAS, Charles Wood worked as a Head Shipper for U.S. Steel; he later worked for Hadady Corporation until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Charles Wood enjoyed the outdoors and loved NASCAR; and

WHEREAS, Charles Wood was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his sister, Sandra Kay; and his brother, Gary Wood; and

WHEREAS, Charles Wood is survived by his children, John Wood, Larry Wood, Angela (Gary) Spurlock, Lisa (Danny) Webb, Bill (Rhonda) Piper, Glinda (Phillip) Schiller, Chris (Shirley) Hollifield, Wayne Hollifield, David (Melisa) Hollifield, and Luffman Jestes; his 30 grandchildren; his many great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Judy Jones and Pat Rawson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles Larry Wood and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Wood as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
