SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

215 ILCS 5/356z.41 new

Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Provides that an out-of-network provider of emergency air transportation may not charge an insured a rate that is 125% more than the rate allowed by Medicare for similar services. Effective July 1, 2020.

AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding Section 356z.41 as follows:

(215 ILCS 5/356z.41 new)

Sec. 356z.41. Emergency air transportation. An out-of-network provider of emergency air transportation may not charge an insured a rate that is 125% more than the rate allowed by Medicare for similar services.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2020.
