HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate David "Dave" Wians on the occasion of his retirement as president of the Gladstone Park Chamber of Commerce and commend him for his dedication to the organization over the past 21 years; and

WHEREAS, Dave Wians earned his degree in Education from Northern Illinois University; he married Demetria Kanelos in 1978; he began living in Gladstone Park in 1985; and

WHEREAS, Dave Wians worked for a life insurance company from 1977 to 1981; he started his own State Farm agency in 1981; and

WHEREAS, Dave Wians has served as president of the Gladstone Park Chamber of Commerce for the past 21 years and has been a member for 30 years; he has sponsored and participated in many activities; and

WHEREAS, Dave Wians is also active in the Edgebrook-Sauganash Chamber of Commerce and the Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce; he is a past president of the Elk Grove Village Jaycee Ambassador #163; with a keen interest in legislation that affects the insurance industry, he serves as a precinct captain for the Illinois Legislation Action Network (ILAN); he is also an active member in other industry organizations; and

WHEREAS, Dave Wians served as a youth baseball and basketball coach in Chicago, Fox River Grove, and Cary for over 20 years; he is the past president and past athletic director of FRG Recreational Council, a youth activity organization; he is a charter board member and past president of the FRG Memorial Foundation, an organization created to build a memorial to the seven children who died in the school bus/commuter train accident in Fox River Grove on October 25, 1995; and

WHEREAS, Dave Wians has received numerous industry and company awards based on his service to his customers throughout the years; he was inducted into the Steinmetz High School Hall of Fame in 2017, which honors graduates that have made notable accomplishments and contributions to society; and

WHEREAS, Dave Wians is a family man and an active contributor to his community; he enjoys woodworking and being outdoors; and

WHEREAS, Dave Wians and his wife Demetria have five children and six grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate David "Dave" Wians on the occasion of his retirement as president of the Gladstone Park Chamber of Commerce and commend him for his dedication to the organization over the past 21 years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dave Wians as an expression of our esteem and respect.
