HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Eddie Lee
4Jackson Sr. of East St. Louis, who passed away on December 18,
52020; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Eddie Jackson was born to Aaron Jackson and Fannie
7Mae Jackson in Canalou, Missouri on July 14, 1949; he graduated
8from East St. Louis Senior High School in 1967; he married
9Pearlie Mae Rich in October of 1969; he attended Southern
10Illinois University Edwardsville where he became a member of
11Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and earned a bachelor's degree
12in Education and later a master's degree focused on City
13Planning; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Eddie Jackson started his political career in East
15St. Louis in the early 1970s and served on the East St. Louis
16City Council for more than 30 years; after retiring from East
17St. Louis School district 189 where he was a science teacher
18and gifted administrator, he served in the Illinois House of
19Representatives for 8 years, from 2009 to 2017, representing
20the 114th District; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Eddie attended Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist
22Church and was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. for

1more than 50 years; he was a gentle, kind, and quiet man who
2taught his family to lead by example; he was a mentor to many
3and worked throughout his life to make East St. Louis a better
4place for all; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Eddie Jackson was preceded in death by his mother;
6his father; his sister, Bernice Vales; his grandson, Tramell
7Jackson; and his granddaughter, Andersen Elise Hicks; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Eddie Jackson is survived by his loving wife,
9Pearlie; his two children, Eddie (Shantell) Jackson Jr. and
10Emeka (Demarius) Jackson-Hicks; and his host of grandchildren,
11great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we mourn the passing of Eddie Lee Jackson Sr. and extend our
15sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
16and loved him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Eddie Jackson as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
