HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Zonta International on the occasion of its 100th anniversary on November 8, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Zonta International is based in Oak Brook in the 47th Representative District; it is a worldwide organization that helps raise the status of women and girls in the areas of education, health, social justice, exploitation, and domestic violence; and

WHEREAS, Zonta International was founded in Buffalo, New York in 1919; and

WHEREAS, Today, Zonta International oversees approximately 29,000 members and 1,200 clubs in 63 countries; there are five Zonta Clubs in the Chicago area, including one in Oak Brook; and

WHEREAS, Zonta International envisions a world in which women's rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Zonta International on its 100th anniversary, and we wish the members many more wonderful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Zonta International as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
