HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Christopher Joel L. Cabalfin on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Cabalfin is a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 290; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Cabalfin's Eagle Scout project was to collect humanitarian goods such as underwear, toothpaste, shampoo, and garbage bags for WINGS (Women In Need Growing Stronger), whose mission is to provide housing, services, education, and advocacy to end domestic violence; he set up three donation drives on different Saturdays in April around Hoffman Estates; all monetary donations were given to WINGS to put towards their programs; he advertised his project through the combined efforts of his troop, his family and friends, his high school, and the Hoffman Estates Chamber Of Commerce; physical and digital posters helped raise awareness and a large blue tent on the side of Golf Road and multiple poster boards accompanied by silly dancing by his fellow scouts also helped attract attention; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Cabalfin has been a part of many exciting opportunities while being a member of Troop 290; he has taken summer trips to Camp Napowan in Wild Rose, Wisconsin and slept aboard the USS Silversides, a decommissioned submarine on display in Muskegon, Wisconsin; in 2017, he attended the National Scout Jamboree; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Cabalfin is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow; for years, he was Troop 290's representative for the Order of the Arrow; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Cabalfin graduated from Hoffman Estates High School; he currently attends Triton College in Melrose Park, with plans to earn an Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Automotive Technology and then transfer to Southern Illinois University and earn a Bachelor's of Science in Automotive Technology; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Cabalfin will be honored at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on November 30, 2019; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Christopher Joel L. Cabalfin on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, and we wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Christopher Cabalfin as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
