HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Terry L. Miller on receiving the 2019 Rural Physician of Excellence Award from the Illinois Rural Health Association; and

WHEREAS, One of the biggest healthcare challenges across our nation is the shortage of physicians who practice in rural settings, especially with the high percentage of older adults living in rural America and small towns; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Miller graduated from the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 1989; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Miller completed his residency in family practice at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford in 1992; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Miller is a veteran and served our county for over 14 years in the U.S. Army, both on active duty where he spent part of his time in Honduras and in the Reserve; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Miller's began his professional career in the rural health arena with FHN Memorial Hospital in 1992 and has continued to serve patients in the region for the past 26 years; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Miller is extremely committed to ensuring the upmost quality of care to veterans and volunteers, acting as the physician for any newly admitted veterans at the area's local nursing home; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Miller is always a phone call away and often makes his rounds seven days a week; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Miller's commitment to the community extends beyond medicine; he has been an active Boy Scout Leader for over 20 years, often holding the meetings in the clinic's lobby and spending part of his summer vacation as a volunteer physician at the National Boy Scout Jamboree; and

WHEREAS, While Dr. Miller's hectic schedule may not allow him to go on a jungle safari, one of his favorite activities is being able to spend time at the zoo with his family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dr. Terry L. Miller on receiving the 2019 Rural Physician of Excellence Award and commend him for his compassion and dedication to his patients and for filling such a tremendous void in rural medicine over the past 26 years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Miller as a symbol of our respect esteem.
