1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate the East St. Louis High
4 School girls track and field team, the Flyerettes, on winning
5 the 2019 Illinois High School Association Class 2A Girls State
6 Championship; and

7     WHEREAS, The Flyerettes scored 72 points to win the
8 championship on May 18, 2019 at O'Brien Field on the campus of
9 Eastern Illinois University in Charleston; and

10     WHEREAS, This was the Flyerettes third championship and the
11 first since 2011; and

12     WHEREAS, The inspiration for the Flyerettes' performance
13 was emblazoned on the back of their shirts this season, "Always
14 run through the finish line."; therefore, be it

15     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16 HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17 we congratulate the East St. Louis High School girls track and
18 field team, the Flyerettes, on winning the 2019 Illinois High
19 School Association Class 2A Girls State Championship, and we
20 wish them many more successful years; and be it further

1     RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
2 presented to the Flyerettes' coaches and players as a symbol of
3 our respect and esteem.
