HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Brandon
4Christopher of Streamwood, a graduating Senior at Streamwood
5High School, on his exemplary academic performance, earning a
6cumulative grade point average of 3.4 or above as he finishes
7the 2018-2019 school year; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Brandon Christopher is the 18-year-old son of
9Cindy and Lee Christopher of Streamwood; he was recognized as a
10School District U-46 African American History Month Senior
11Scholar at the inaugural School District U-46 Black History
12Month Program held at Larkin High School on February 9, 2019;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Brandon Christopher was one of only 16
15African-American students from across U-46's five high schools
16who, as of last semester, had earned a cumulative grade point
17average of 3.4 or above; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Brandon Christopher was invited to attend the
19senior academic recognition ceremony by School District U-46
20CEO Tony Sanders and was presented with a certificate of
21achievement on stage; this is a special achievement because he
22was the only senior from Streamwood High School who was

1recognized that evening; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Brandon Christopher has been named to the
3Streamwood High School Combined Regular and High Honor Roll,
4the Streamwood High School Academic All-Star Team, and the
5Upstate Eight Academic All-Conference Team; he is a member of
6the National Honor Society and helped to create the first
7Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Mentoring
8Program at Streamwood High School; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Brandon Christopher has promoted the AVID
10Mentoring Program by giving an orientation to junior and senior
11AVID students who will serve as mentors to the freshmen AVID
12students; the main objective of the program is to prepare
13students for college, careers, and life; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
15HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16we congratulate Brandon Christopher on his academic
17achievements and wish him success in his future endeavors; and
18be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to Brandon Christopher as an expression of our esteem
21and respect.
