HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Village of Rochester
4on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of its incorporation;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rochester was settled in 1819 by James and Jane
7Murphy McCoy and incorporated in 1869; it has had continuous
8population growth for the past 200 years; and
 
9    WHEREAS, At its inception, Rochester was primarily an
10agricultural community; it has had an ebb and flow of
11businesses throughout its history; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Rochester embraces and values a vital educational
13system and fosters an environment that supports family,
14education, sports, and the fine arts; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Rochester provides the opportunity for all ages to
16engage in diverse clubs and organizations and is home to a
17variety of churches; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Rochester boasts outstanding police and fire
19departments, a public library, a public park, an arboretum, a
20bike path, and an historical village; and

1    WHEREAS, Rochester is a sesquicentennial community and
2will be officially capping its year-long celebration on the
3weekend of September 13, 14, and 15, 2019; it has gathered the
4stories and artifacts reflecting its heritage; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we congratulate the Village of Rochester on the occasion of the
8150th anniversary of its incorporation, and we wish it many
9more wonderful years; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the Rochester Village President as a symbol of our
12respect and esteem.
