HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Taylorville Police Officer Gary Jones, who passed away on March 3, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jones was born to Robert and Pamela Jones on August 20, 1971; he graduated from Taylorville High School in 1989 and served in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard; he married Regina "Gina" Garren at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville on July 2, 1993; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jones bravely served with the Taylorville Police Department in the town in which he was raised and loved so dearly; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jones was a firearms enthusiast and a member of the NRA; he was a gunsmith, master firearms instructor, and a concealed-carry instructor; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jones was active in the community; he was a member of the Police Benevolent and Protective Association and St. Mary's Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jones was a loving father and husband; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jones is survived by his wife, Gina; his children, Logan, Kaylee, Tanner, and Dylan; his parents; his father-in-law, Harry Garren; his siblings, Stephanie (Kevin) Monahan, Kim Jones, and Jacob (Heather) Jones; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Taylorville Police Officer Gary Jones and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Officer Jones as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
