    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning following too closely.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing
5Section 11-710 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/11-710)  (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-710)
7    Sec. 11-710. Following too closely. (a) The The driver of a
8motor vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely
9than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed
10of such vehicles and the traffic upon and the condition of the
11highway.
12    (b) The driver of any truck or motor vehicle drawing
13another vehicle when traveling upon a roadway outside of a
14business or residence district and which is following another
15truck or motor vehicle drawing another vehicle shall, whenever
16conditions permit, leave sufficient space so that an overtaking
17vehicle may enter and occupy such space without danger, except
18that this shall not prevent a truck or motor vehicle drawing
19another vehicle from overtaking and passing any vehicle or
20combination of vehicles.
21    (c) Motor vehicles being driven upon any roadway outside of
22a business or residence district in a caravan or motorcade
23whether or not towing other vehicles shall be so operated as to

1allow sufficient space between each such vehicle or combination
2of vehicles so as to enable any other vehicle to enter and
3occupy such space without danger. This provision shall not
4apply to funeral processions.
