225 ILCS 65/55-30

    Amends the Nurse Practice Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning a licensed practical nurse's scope of practice.

1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Nurse Practice Act is amended by changing
5Section 55-30 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 65/55-30)
7    (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2028)
8    Sec. 55-30. LPN scope of practice.
9    (a) Practice as a licensed practical nurse means a scope of
10nursing practice, with or without compensation, under the the
11guidance of a registered professional nurse or an advanced
12practice registered nurse, or as directed by a physician
13assistant, physician, dentist, podiatric physician, or other
14health care professionals as determined by the Department, and
15includes, but is not limited to, all of the following:
16        (1) Conducting a focused nursing assessment and
17    contributing to the ongoing comprehensive nursing
18    assessment of the patient performed by the registered
19    professional nurse.
20        (2) Collaborating in the development and modification
21    of the registered professional nurse's or advanced
22    practice registered nurse's comprehensive nursing plan of
23    care for all types of patients.

1        (3) Implementing aspects of the plan of care.
2        (4) Participating in health teaching and counseling to
3    promote, attain, and maintain the optimum health level of
4    patients.
5        (5) Serving as an advocate for the patient by
6    communicating and collaborating with other health service
7    personnel.
8        (6) Participating in the evaluation of patient
9    responses to interventions.
10        (7) Communicating and collaborating with other health
11    care professionals.
12        (8) Providing input into the development of policies
13    and procedures to support patient safety.
