SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

5 ILCS 420/3-108 new

Amends the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act. Provides that a legislator shall consult with the ethics officer for his or her respective legislative caucus when he or she believes that there may be a possible conflict situation created by a personal, family, or client legislative interest.

AN ACT concerning State government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act is amended by adding Section 3-108 as follows:

(5 ILCS 420/3-108 new)

Sec. 3-108. Ethics consultation. A legislator shall consult with the ethics officer for his or her respective legislative caucus when he or she believes that there may be a possible conflict situation created by a personal, family, or client legislative interest.
