725 ILCS 5/110-10from Ch. 38, par. 110-10

Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963. Provides that reasonable fees may be charged for pretrial services, including but not limited to, DNA testing, GPS electronic monitoring, assessments and evaluations related to domestic violence and other victims. Effective immediately.

Fiscal Note (Admin Office of the Illinois Courts)
Currently, a judge may assess a fee to an individual receiving pretrial services while under the supervision of a pretrial service agency, a probation department, or a court services department. SB 1708 expands the service fees that a judge may order an individual to pay as a condition of bond. The bill does not change the amount of the fee that may be assessed nor the method by which the fees are currently collected. As the collection of probation fees is a process currently managed at the local level within the respective probation departments and the circuit clerks, the provisions of SB 1708 will not have a fiscal impact on the State.
