Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Counties Code. Provides that, in any sheriff's office with a collective bargaining agreement covering the employment of department personnel, disciplinary measures shall be reviewable through arbitration, and the Sheriff may act to remove, demote, or suspend department personnel without filing charges with the Merit Commission.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Counties Code. Provides that, on and after June 1, 2007, for any sheriff's office with a collective bargaining agreement, certain disciplinary measures and review of those disciplinary measures are subject to mandatory bargaining and may include the use of impartial arbitration.

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Counties Code. Provides that the county board of any county may impose a special county retailers' occupation tax for public facility purposes. Provides that the tax must be approved by referendum. Defines "public facility purposes". Provides that the Illinois Department of Revenue may promulgate rules to implement the amendatory Act only to the extent necessary to apply the existing rules for the Special County Retailers' Occupation Tax for Public Safety to public facilities. Effective immediately.
