(Sen. John J. Cullerton)
| 1/13/2009||House||Session Sine Die|
Statutes Amended In Order of Appearance
Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Elevator Safety Act. Provides that any elevator that has malfunctioned in a manner that has led to the dispatch of a fire department for rescue must be marked by that rescuing fire department with an identifying sticker. Sets forth requirements concerning the sticker, and provides that the sticker may be removed only by an elevator mechanic licensed under the Act. Allows the Office of the State Fire Marshal to adopt rules necessary for the implementation and enforcement of this requirement.
House Committee Amendment No. 1
Provides that there is no rulemaking authority under the amendatory Act, but that the Governor may suggest rules by filing them with the General Assembly and requesting that the General Assembly authorize such rulemaking by law, enact the suggested rules into law, or take other appropriate action in the General Assembly's discretion.
| ||Fiscal Note, House Committee Amendment No. 1 (State Fire Marshal)|
| ||The Office will incur the burden of writing and submitting rules for adoption in the Administrative Code. This expense is generally expected of existing staff and again is no additional fiscal burden. |
