Fiscal Note (Dept. of Human Services)
HB 5950 will cost approximately $15 million in FY 2011. TANF costs due to HB 5950 will continue to grow at an increasing rate over future fiscal years ($17.1 million for FY 2012 and $19.7 million in FY 2013). TANF grants would reach 50% of the federal poverty level in approximately 7-9 years. Over the next nine fiscal years (FY 2011- FY 2019), HB 5950 will increase aggregate costs to the TANF program in excess of $1.0 billion. In addition, annual costs beyond the next decade would be needed to keep up with the perpetual increases in the federal poverty level.
