Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Fish and Aquatic Life Code. Requires the Department of Natural Resources to establish a one-year pilot project to stimulate the bulk harvest of Asian carp in the Illinois River and to increase the number of native fish. Requires coordination with commercial fishermen. Sets prices per pound. Contains other provisions. Repealed on January 1, 2010. Effective immediately.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 1
Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Fish and Aquatic Life Code. Subject to appropriation, requires the Department of Natural Resources to establish a one-year pilot program to reduce asian carp by stimulating its bulk harvest in the Illinois River and by increasing the number of native fish. Repeals the provisions January 1, 2010. Effective immediately.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Provides that there is no rulemaking authority under the amendatory Act, but that the Governor may suggest rules by filing them with the General Assembly and requesting that the General Assembly authorize such rulemaking by law, enact the suggested rules into law, or take other appropriate action in the General Assembly's discretion.
