Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the purpose of the "Medicaid" Article.

Adds reference to:
305 ILCS 5/5-5.12from Ch. 23, par. 5-5.12

Deletes everything. Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. In provisions concerning pharmacy payments and prior approval requirements under the Medicaid program, eliminates the requirement for a study of the impact of such requirements on patient care; prohibits requirements for prior approval based on a preferred drug list for antidepressants used for the treatment of serious mental illness. Requires continuous access to medications 24 hours per day, 7 days per week; provides that in an emergency situation, when prior approval or an edit override is not available, a pharmacy may dispense, and the Department of Public Aid shall pay for, up to a 72-hour supply of a drug prescribed to an eligible recipient for a mental illness. Makes these provisions inoperative after June 30, 2005.
