Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Department of Human Services Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the general powers and duties of the Department.

Deletes everything. Amends the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963, and the Unified Code of Corrections concerning the transportation of mental health patients. Provides that the Department of Human Services (instead of the county sheriff) is responsible for transporting mental health patients. Requires the Department to make arrangements with other public or private entities for the transportation of mental health patients. Prohibits the Department from making arrangements with an existing hospital or certain community providers for the transportation of certain mental health patients unless the hospital or provider submits a proposal for transportation services. Effective immediately.
