Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Provides that in cases involving reckless homicide resulting in the death of a peace officer, the penalty is a Class 1 (rather than a Class 3) felony.

House Floor Amendment No. 1
Provides that the Class 1 felony violation for reckless homicide applies to the death of a peace officer killed in the performance of his or her duties as a peace officer.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Provides that in cases of involuntary manslaughter or reckless homicide (rather than just reckless homicide) resulting in the death of a peace officer killed in the performance of his or her duties as a peace officer, the penalty is a Class 2 (rather than a Class 1) felony.
