Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning special plates for retired members of the General Assembly.

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that the Secretary of State shall suspend a school bus driver permit for 3 years if the permit holder fails to perform a post-trip inspection in accordance with school district or private sector school bus company inspection policy, with certain minimum requirements provided for in the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a school bus must contain an operating digital two-way radio while the school bus driver is in possession of a school bus, and the device must be turned on and adjusted in a manner that would alert the school bus driver of an incoming communication request. Provides that failure to carry the communication device is a petty offense and 3 or more convictions shall result in suspension the person's school bus driver permit by the Secretary of State for 3 years. Effective immediately.

House Floor Amendment No. 2
Replaces everything after the enacting clause with the engrossed bill with the following changes. Removes provisions requiring that the two-way radio to be digital. Removes the penalty for violation of the two-way radio policy. Adds the requirement that the school bus driver test the two-way radio and ensure that it is functioning properly before the bus is operated.
