Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the School Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the Illinois Teaching Excellence Program.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Deletes reference to:
105 ILCS 5/21-27
Adds reference to:
105 ILCS 5/10-17afrom Ch. 122, par. 10-17a

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the School Code. Provides that the number of teachers who hold a Master Certificate must be included on a school district's school report card assessing the performance of its schools and students. Effective immediately.

House Floor Amendment No. 2
Changes the effective date from immediate to January 1, 2009.

105 ILCS 5/2-3.135

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the High Technology School-to-Work Act and the School Code. Requires the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to establish a school-to-work grant program for high school students to focus on writing and digital literacy or media production or both. With respect to the State Board of Education's technology immersion pilot project, removes the provision that prohibits the State Board from allocating more than $10 million for the pilot project. Effective immediately.
