Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that, beginning with the 2007 registration year, an applicant for Gold Star plates shall receive the plates without paying any registration fee or fee for issuance of the plates.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Adds reference to:
625 ILCS 5/3-638

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that, upon the Secretary of State's receipt of the proper application, the surviving spouse of a person who was issued special U.S. Veteran registration plates may keep the special registration plates and may transfer the registration, if necessary. Provides that the special plates may not be renewed if the surviving spouse remarries. Adds an immediate effective date.
