Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the School Code. Provides that a school board shall require students who participate in an interscholastic athletic program to undergo an electrocardiogram (EKG) test. Provides that the State Board of Education shall determine how often a student must undergo EKG testing.

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois and the School Code. Requires the Department of Public Health to establish a 3-year pilot program for the Chicago school district in which the Department shall require an electrocardiogram (EKG) test as part of the health examination that student athletes are required to undergo. Provides that the Chicago Board of Education shall require students who participate in an interscholastic athletic program to undergo an electrocardiogram (EKG) test.
