SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Deneita Jo Farmer, popularly known as
4"Dee Dee", who passed away on October 7, 2016 at the age of 65;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dee Dee was born on August 5, 1951 to Joseph and
7Geraldine Gamble and raised in Chicago, but lived for many
8years in Maywood; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dee Dee earned both her Bachelor of Arts in
10Elementary Education and her Master of Arts in Early Childhood
11Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and her
12Ed.D. from Nova Southeastern University; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dee Dee was the head of the pre-kindergarten
14program at Longfellow Elementary School in Oak Park and was a
15committed member of The Collaboration for Early Childhood; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dee Dee was the winner of the Golden Apple award
17in 1997; she loved gardening, reading, and going to the movies;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dee Dee was preceded in death by her father,
20Joseph Gamble; and

1    WHEREAS, Dee Dee is survived by her mother, Geraldine
2Gamble; she was the mother of Keisha Jo Farmer-Moore
3(Christopher), Henry Jared Farmer (Kayla), and Mark Justin
4Farmer; the grandmother of Jared Edward Farmer, Jalen Elijah
5Farmer, Khalil Jared Smith, John Kaleb Smith, Elizabeth Moore,
6Alex Moore, and Joseph Moore; and the loving sister of Robin
7Lynne Williams, Mark Joseph Gamble, and Mia Susan Gamble;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Deneita Jo Farmer; and
12be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Deneita Farmer as an expression of
15our sympathy.
