SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Stephen H. "Steve" Bauer of Urbana, who
4passed away on November 30, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Stephen Bauer was born in Denver, Colorado to
6Clifford and Dorothy Bauer on June 24, 1947; he married Linda
7in Greeley, Colorado in June of 1969; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Stephen Bauer began his journalism career in 1970
9as a writer for the Greeley (Colorado) Tribune; he moved his
10family to Urbana in 1979, where he became a reporter for the
11Champaign News-Gazette; he won Colorado and Illinois Press
12Association awards for photography and investigative
13reporting; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Stephen Bauer retired in 2010; he loved spending
15time with his family and enjoyed writing prose and poetry,
16reading Civil War history, and collecting vintage Kodak
17cameras; his constant companions were "The Bauer dogs", Sam,
18Lilo, and Benji, who were always sitting in his lap in his
19recliner taking naps or going with him for walks during the
20day; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Stephen Bauer was preceded in death by his parents

1and his sister, Donna Brotherton; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Stephen Bauer is survived by his wife, Linda
3Bauer; his daughters, Shoshanna Bauer (Michael Bohlmann), and
4Katrina (Jeremy) Tauba Fitzig; his grandchildren, Sophia
5Bauer-Macareg, and Yosef, Hana, and Eda Fitzig; his brother,
6Randy Bauer; his nephews, Nathan and Matthew Bauer; his
7grandnephew, Noah; and his grandniece, Emi; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Stephen H. "Steve" Bauer, and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Stephen Bauer as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
