SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Helen A. Ballantyne of Springfield, who
4passed away on November 3, 2016 at the age of 94; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Helen Ballantyne was born in Carbondale to Oren
6and Ruth Crawshaw Bell on January 30, 1922; she married Kelso
7Joseph Ballantyne in Memphis, Tennessee on March 20, 1943; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Helen Ballantyne attended Southern Illinois
9University Carbondale; she and her husband built and owned the
10Surf Club of Springfield; she was a member of the Christian
11Science Church; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Hellen Ballantyne was a wonderful seamstress; she
13also enjoyed playing tennis and traveling with her husband;
14Helen was strong-willed and spirited; she had her pilot's
15license before she had her driver's license; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Helen Ballantyne was predeceased by her husband of
1761 years, Kelso; her parents; and her grandson, Adam Stetson;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Helen Ballantyne is survived by her son, Kelso R.
20(Bonnie) Ballantyne; her former daughter-in-law, Nancy

2Livingston, Kelso Brent (Sadie) Ballantyne, Deborah (Kevin)
3Trout, and Ryan (Stacey) Woodward; and her ten
4great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
7family and friends, mourn the passing of Helen A. Ballantyne,
8and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and
9all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Helen Ballantyne as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
