SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Eugene J. "Gene" Desaunoy of Milan, who
4passed away on November 24, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Eugene Desaunoy was born in Rock Island to John
6and Elizabeth Coene Desaunoy on April 30, 1927; he served in
7the United States Army during the Korean War; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Eugene Desaunoy worked as a sales representative
9for John Hancock Insurance for 24 years, retiring in 1988; he
10had previously worked at Fuller Brush Company; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Eugene Desaunoy was a parishioner of St. Ambrose
12Church in Milan, for over 80 years, where he served as a
13extraordinary minister of the Eucharist since 1978, lector for
14over 24 years, member of the parish council and choir, and
15brought communion to hospital patients and shut-ins; his other
16memberships include St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus Council
1712576, Legion of Mary at St. Ambrose, Pope John XXIII
18Fraternity of the Secular Franciscans, and the Milan American
19Legion Post 569; he received the Pere Marquette Award from the
20Diocese of Peoria; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Eugene Desaunoy enjoyed growing gladiolus,

1gardening, golfing, listening to classical music, and
2attending family events with his nieces and nephews; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Eugene Desaunoy was preceded in death by his
4parents, and his sisters, Margaret Peebler and Barbara Cover;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Eugene Desaunoy is survived by his sister, Mary
7(Ken) Galusha, and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Eugene J. "Gene" Desaunoy, and extend our sincere condolences
11to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Eugene Desaunoy as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
