SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Sgt. Douglas J. Riney of Fairview who
4passed away on October 19, 2016 from injuries sustained while
5fighting enemy forces in Kabul, Afghanistan; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sgt. Douglas Riney was born at Fort Stewart Army
7base in Georgia to Dave and Pam Chabotte Riney on July 29,
81990; he married the love of his life, Kylie Eddy, on December
929, 2012 in Farmington; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Sgt. Douglas Riney was a graduate of Spoon River
11Valley High School; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Sgt. Douglas Riney entered active military
13service in July of 2012 as a petroleum supply specialist and
14was last assigned to the Support Squadron, Third Calvary
15Regiment, First Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, since
16December of 2012; he had previously deployed in support of
17Operation Enduring Freedom from July of 2014 to February of
182015, and also deployed from June of 2016 to October of 2016 in
19support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel; his awards and
20decorations include the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Army
21Commendation Medal, four Army Achievements Medals, Army Good
22Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan

1Campaign Medal with three campaign stars, Global War on
2Terrorism Service Medal, Non-commissioned Officer Professional
3Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon and NATO Medal; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Sgt. Douglas Riney was a member of the Vintage
5Church in Texas, and a proud volunteer firefighter with the
6Fairview Fire Department; he was an avid Green Bay Packers fan,
7a BMX bicycle rider with many awards and trophies; he enjoyed
8riding his motorcycle, hunting, and fishing; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Sgt. Douglas Riney is survived by his wife, Kylie;
10his children, Elea and James Riney; his father, Dave (Kristie)
11Riney; his mother, Pam (Don) Boland; his siblings, Jeff Budd,
12and Stacey (Ashley Ayers) Budd; his niece, Cailee Budd; two
13stepbrothers, Bryce and Kole Vaughn; one stepsister, Ashlie
14Herrin; his paternal grandmother, Nancy Riney; his maternal
15grandmother, Linda Huntley; several aunts and uncles and many
16cousins; his father and mother-in-law, Randal and Donna Eddy;
17and two sisters-in-law, Brandi Eddy, and Janel (Doug) Brown and
18their children, Kambell, Payton, Avari, and Asher McDermet and
19Kinsley Brown; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
22family and friends, mourn the passing of Sgt. Douglas Riney,
23and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and

1all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3presented to the family of Sgt. Douglas Riney as an expression
